Hello, my friends from all over the world! My name is Vivian. I'm a 23 years old girl from Japan, and I'm currently studying and living in Oregon, United States.
Ever since I was a child, my dream was "to live in a different country" and make a lot of friends! I've grown up with a lot of lovely friends and people from Philippine, China, Vietnam, Indonesia and so on in Japan. But, I really needed to make my dream to come true.
In 2007: my 1st country, Australia. I struggled a lot with Australians because I didn't know any English, but "not being able to communicate with people who I really wanted to communicate" was definitely frustrating and sad. However, it taught me that I could make friends even though there were huge cultural differences and a language barrier.
In 2008: my 2nd country, Fiji Islands (twice!!). I cried a lot. I laughed a lot. I made local friends a lot.
Finally, in Spring of 2009, I arrived to California in the US. I moved to Oregon in the Fall of 2009. It's been 5 years now. Things have changed a lot with me and around me. I have experienced many negative and positive things in Oregon.
Spring in 2013, Smile with Vivian was born. I really want to share what I'm experiencing in the world. I hope that my blog can make you smile. I hope that my blog can motivate you to get out from the bed, from your house, and from your country ... to see the beautiful world and to meet wonderful people. Thank you to all of my lovely readers. This year, I am going to put a period onto my international journey in the US. I don't know what my journey will look like.. However, I promise to continue traveling the world and meeting people in the world. I'll also continue to write and share as much information as possible ... just as long as you want to read.
